Traditional timber sliding sash windows were very cleverly designed to allow fantastic ventilation as well as excellent air circulation at the same time. The Window achieves this by using simple physics: ‘hot air rises’ and the ambient atmospheric pressure of 1 bar! Essentially when properly repaired fuction as a double hung sash and casement window, ie. both glazed frames or ’sashes’ move independently, a vent can be created top and bottom of say 4-5 inches or 100-125 mm allowing the hot air that is rising to esape. This in turn reduces the pressure below… and as the planet is set at 1 atmosphere on the surface, cooler external air is literally sucked in the bottom, nice cool fresh air that costs you nothing!
